The brand’s remarkable history begins with David Mouawad (1865 – 1951), a highly talented goldsmith, jeweler, and watchmaker, leaving his homeland, Lebanon in 1890 for the purpose of spending over 20 years in New York and Mexico; acquiring top craftsman skills.

Eventually, a highly motivated David went back to Beirut and established the brand’s first workshop in 1908. From then onwards, he continued with his occupation of repairing watches and jewelry; adding his ardent desire of manufacturing magnificent timepieces and unique fashionable watches for wealthy clientele to his daily work.

The house has been renowned for generations for its complex watches and lavish jewelry designs. In addition, Mouawad is one of the first watchmaking companies to manufacture watches with gemstone settings. To this day, the brand holds strong favor with watch lovers and the elite through the creation of timepieces that are veritable artworks.

The new year on 1st January 2010, marked a new era for the Mouawad House. the management of the family-owned business was passed on to the fourth generation of Mouawads, David Mouawad’s three great-grandsons: Fred, Alain, and Pascal. The combined efforts of the three brothers resulted in the brand’s reputation for targeting excellence to acquire new Guinness World Records and strong links with top-ranking celebrities.
