Jean Tuhdarian, a renowned jeweler better known as Jean Vendôme, was born in Lyon, in 1930. He worked as an apprentice under his Uncle Der, after which he went on to study gemology for several years in Paris. In 1948, he established his first workshop at 2 rue Feutrier, in Paris 18. Jean commenced his business with the acquisition of jewelry creation orders from prominent jewelers of the time.
In 1950, he successfully launched his first jewelry collection; a true depiction of modern-style pieces of jewelry. He took part in a number of exhibitions, inclusive of the “The Japanese Pearl” at the Palais d’Orsay in 1966, and then the Society of Decorative Artists (SAD) at the Grand Palais. In 1969, he went on to win an award of the French School show in the Modern Art Museum.
The brand has acquired inspirations from postcards, travels, and the Baroque style; resulting in its luxury jewelry creations being rewarded many times over. The house has been fortunate enough to win many awards, such as the silver medal pertaining to the Arts, Sciences, and Letters of Paris city, 1st prize of Jewelry and Jewelry today as well as winning the international exhibition in New York.
Thierry and Raphael, his sons, entered the business in 1980. From then on, Thierry Vendôme took over control of the jewelry establishment. Nonetheless, all these achievements were not entirely crisis-free for the family; in 1973, Jean underwent a critical car accident and seven years later, the family’s boutique in Paris was destroyed by a bomb attack. Despite all these discouraging events, Thierry remained steadfast, maintaining his position as one of the world’s most talented jewelry artisans.
The jeweler is famed for his ingenuity in goldsmithing strategies, the use of innovative materials and the ability to contrast abstract elements like water, fire, etc. A total number of 300,000 exclusive ornaments have been depicted through the brand’s highly alluring collections of “Nugget”, “Nocturne and Boreal”, “Overview”, “Cosmos”, and more.
The house has remarkable vintage jewelry pieces, consisting of rings, necklaces, earrings and other stunning ornaments that are irresistible owing to their shapes and distinct designing.
