The brand’s history can be traced back to 1835 when Leopoldo Janesich established his first jewelry boutique in Trieste, Italy. Janesich was a Croatian immigrant, a goldsmith apprentice who was adept at creating silver jewelry that won the appeal of an elite and fashionable class of customers. Amongst the first of his customers were aristocrats, merchants, bankers, and shipowners who regularly visited the Capo di Piazzo, the region’s social and cultural center. Later, Leopoldo moved forward with the manufacturing of magnificent jewelry.
Leopoldo Janesich passed away in 1880; control of his company was transferred to his son, Giovanni Battista Janesich who went on to establish a Parisian branch at 19, rue de la Paix. He was a supplier of precious gems and beads. Giovanni was succeeded by his son, Alberto Janesich, a third-generation member of the family, who was an expert dealer in precious stones. The Janesich house successfully acquired fame and established connections with prominent French and international brands. The brand has several branches across the world, inclusive of London, Biarritz, Vichy, and Monte Carlo; attracting prestigious clients like King Nicholas of Montenegro and the Archduke of Austria.
The three generations of the Janesich house have always strived to highlight the magnificence of the brand with Art Deco objects like jewelry boxes, watches, powder compacts, but more specifically, luxury jewelry pieces like earrings, bracelets, brooches, chains and more. Exquisite ornaments portraying unparalleled sophistication and glamor. Each jewel is meticulously adorned with diamonds, sapphires, gold, silver, and even enamel.
By the end of the first world war, the Janesich style was, undoubtedly, a depiction of Art Deco, an inherent part of all that was the vogue in the 1920s and 30s. The firm progressed successfully, but with the advent of the second world war, the Parisian shop faced closure; the family returning to their homeland, Italy.
Today, the business is being run by Francesco, the sixth generation upholding the Janesich tradition with its magnificent history of awesome designs and exquisitely crafted jewelry pieces and accessories.
