This year, the jewelry house's Cartier Libre line is called Polymorph. It focuses on Cartier jewelry and women's watch creations that are where you don't expect them . Nature, which is always in motion, is the inspiration for the collection.
But the house added its own twist, namely abstract concepts such as the path of the sun, the stages of an eclipse and the way flowers bloom and open. One of the most exciting themes of the Cartier Polymorph collection is this free approach to how these jewels can be worn.
The Cartier Polymorph carabiner watch
The Polymorph Carabiner Watch is probably one of the most remarkable pieces in the collection. Shaped like a triangle and set with diamonds, this timepiece is full of emeralds and sapphires. It is also flanked by a circle of onyx, lapis lazuli, black spinel, turquoise and chrysoprase beads . This watch can be worn on a belt or on a bag . The watch is opened by pressing on a cabochon-cut sapphire.
Other designs that follow this approach include a panther claw brooch designed to clip onto the inside edge of a jacket lapel, the edge of a pocket or the hem of a sleeve. The Cartier brooch features four claws topped with four large moonstones, diamonds and rows of custom-cut onyx for contrast. A simple press of a button reveals a miniature watch face hidden beneath one of the claws.

A diamond and onyx ring, composed of 4 rotating discs, reflects the phases of a solar eclipse. A more classic solar bracelet and ring evoke the myriad colors of a sunrise.
