Tiffany's Blue Book: A Century-Old Tradition
First published in 1845, the Tiffany & Co. Blue Book was the first mail-order catalog to bring fine jewelry to American homes. It quickly became a standard for luxury .
Last Thursday, Anya Taylor-Joy, Emily Blunt and Gal Gadot were among the 150 friends of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton who attended the launch of Tiffany Céleste jewelry at the prestigious Estate Beverly.
Nathalie Verdeille is the French brains behind these Tiffany jewels. She has been the chief artistic director of jewelry and fine jewelry at Tiffany & Co. since 2021. A sector in crisis, luxury? According to Anthony Ledru, CEO of Tiffany, fine jewelry defies the luxury slowdown and is “ recession-proof .”
Blue Book 2024 Tiffany Céleste: the most lavish collection in history, and inspired by Schlumberger
With the 2024 edition, Tiffany Céleste has become the most ambitious Blue Book collection to date. That’s true in terms of the number of jewels , but also in terms of total value . It’s made up of 157 pieces whose average price is “ close to a million or more, ” Ledru said. The line is inspired by Tiffany’s legendary jeweler Jean Schlumberger. He joined the company in 1956 to usher in a golden age with his fantastical , nature -inspired creations.
“ We worked on Out of the Blue last year, exploring the depths of the sea. Céleste goes in the opposite direction. That is, towards the sun, the cosmos, the rays of light, a fantastic world of mystical symbols, ” Verdeille said.
Some remarkable jewels from the Tiffany Céleste collection
The jewel of the collection is a breathtaking winged diamond Pegasus necklace, inspired by the symbol of flight, in platinum and 18k yellow gold with a diamond weighing over 20 carats .
Other pieces draw inspiration from arrow-shaped constellations of Colombian emeralds and diamonds, propelling the decorative art of marquetry into starry settings. “ Normally, you see it in stone or mother-of-pearl, but here it’s a mix of sapphires, diamonds, mother-of-pearl and white gold, ” Verdeille explained.
A luxury ring, stunning even by Beverly Hills standards, features a 25-carat pink sapphire set between sparkling diamond stars.
The Apollo necklace , inspired by Schlumberger's 1957 Apollo brooch, is made of gold links enclosing white diamonds around a 10-carat yellow diamond that mimics electrons " dancing around the atom, " Verdeille said.
The Ray of Light sub-collection evokes the rays of the sun through platinum and 18-carat yellow gold. Its necklace decorated with 54 carats of red spinels can be transformed into a tiara with a modern look.
A 25-carat blue zircon and pebble-like aquamarines “like the cloudy sky” illuminate a bracelet from the Iconic Star sub-collection.
