JEWELRY GUIDE
Jewelry creation is an art that obeys precise and rigorous rules from the original design, the selection of stones and metals to the final realization. Beauty and quality depend on each of the steps, on each of the hands that with patience and meticulousness allow to obtain a unique and valuable jewel.
Drawing
At the origin of the jewel, there is an idea and this idea must be transmitted. The sketch is the first step which must then be completed by a technical drawing to scale and which must take into account the constraints of volume and feasibility. Then it is gouache in order to get as close as possible to the final objective. It is often necessary to make different views of the jewel.
Choice of metal and cast iron
Once the wax model has been approved, the metal must be determined and taken to the foundry for transformation into gold, platinum or silver. The metal model can be directly worked to create the piece of jewelry.
Cast iron recovery
When it comes out of the cast, the jeweler must take care to take the jewel back in order to "clean" it, smooth it, specify the openings provided for the stones, adjust the size, adapt different elements together if necessary and carry out a pre-polishing.
Punch
After all these steps, the jeweler stamps his hallmark called "master's hallmark" which has a diamond shape. The jewel is now ready to pass into the hands of the Customs service called "Guarantee".
This is when the nature of the metal and its titration are verified. The corresponding hallmark is then stamped, thus providing a guarantee to the consumer as well as proof of payment of the precious metals tax.
