Watches & Wonders 2022: the major Geneva watch fair is back

After the cancellation of the 2021 and 2020 editions, Watches & Wonders 2022 was finally able to take place. Proof of the impatience of lovers of beautiful watches, the Geneva watch fair exceeded expectations in terms of success. We will briefly look back at the 2022 edition of Watches and Wonders. But above all, we will focus on the most beautiful watches that were presented on the shores of Lake Geneva.

Watches & Wonders Geneva 2022 in a few figures

The 2022 edition, which has just concluded, was a great success:

  • 38 major watch brands present
  • More than 22,000 visitors
  • More than 300 million people reached via online events and social networks (keynotes, discussions, presentations, etc.)
  • Numerous luxury watch launches

Clearly, the organizers have taken advantage of the experience gained during the pandemic to increase the aura of the show tenfold via digital. Watches & Wonders 2022 will have exploited the best of both worlds, for the benefit of all.

The most beautiful watches from Watches & Wonders 2022

Presenting all the watches at Watches & Wonders 2022 would have been impossible. Just like describing all those that are worth a look. Here are some of the most beautiful watches that visitors to the Geneva watch fair were able to admire.

  • Ballon Bleu (Cartier) men's and women's watches
  • Used Blancpain women's watch

Jaeger-Lecoultre Reverso Quadryptic

The last Watches & Wonders show was marked by the seal of innovation . One only has to look at the Jaeger-Lecoultre Reverso Quadryptique for concrete proof of this. It is a true watchmaking masterpiece.

This is not the most complicated Reverso ever made by the house. It is simply one of the most complex watches in the history of Jaeger-LeCoultre. No more, no less. This luxury timepiece has no less than 11 complications on 4 faces .

The quadratic Reverso watch was actually presented digitally last year. However, for the first time, it could be admired in the flesh.

TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Tourbillon Nanograph

Believe it or not, the Carrera Plasma Tourbillon Nanograph is TAG Heuer’s first solar-powered watch . Featuring a La Joux-Perret caliber and a black case, it’s a fairly lightweight and understated timepiece. We especially like the bezel of this watch. Made of carbon, it’s infused with green Super-LumiNova . This gives the watch a very nice luminescent effect after it’s been given a good charge of light.

Are you looking for a luxury dive watch? Then you should definitely consider the TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Tourbillon Nanograph. However, this timepiece is not just for divers. The combination of luminescent bezel, black case, solar-powered movement, and stealthy styling makes for a winning combo.

Vacheron Constantin Les Historiques 222: a hit of Watches & Wonders 2022

The 1977 Vacheron Constantin 222 was one of the first “luxury sports watches.” However, fewer than 1,000 of the first generation were ever made. This rarity has driven pre-owned prices into the six-figure range. This modern reinvention inspired by the Historiques line means that collectors can finally enjoy a 222 – albeit with an updated movement from Vacheron.

If you haven’t been able to get your hands on a Vacheron Constantin 222 for years, here’s a watch that will help you make up for it. Die-hard fans of the brand, lovers of luxury sports watches with integrated bracelets, and gold watch enthusiasts in general are all crazy about the 222 Historiques. This model was a huge hit at Watches and Wonders 2022. It’s easy to see why:

  • He is very handsome
  • The model is available
  • This is the ultimate gold watch.

Van Cleef & Arpels Floral Hours

After having looked at some rather masculine models, let's now take a look at a women's watch that caused a sensation at the show. Or rather 2 watches from Van Cleef & Arpels. Inspired by an idea from the naturalist Carl von Linné, the Lady Arpels Heures Florales allow you to check the time thanks to… flowers that bloom.

How does this watch work? The hours are represented by the flowers in bloom. For example, if there are 5 flowers open, it is 5 o'clock . Better yet, it is never the same flowers that open, it is totally random. To check the minutes, you have to look on the side of the case.

This Van Cleef & Arpels women's watch is incredibly beautiful, innovative and poetic. It is a marvel of miniaturized craftsmanship in terms of sculptures, paintings, enameling and marquetry. This jewelry watch has to be seen in action to be believed:

Rolex GMT Master II left-handed

At the show, the famous brand with the crown presented a new version of the Rolex GMT Master II. This model features a monobloc Cerachrom bezel insert in green and black ceramic. It is now a left-handed model . On this watch, the crown and crown guard are therefore located on the left side of the watch case. The date window and Cyclops magnifying glass have also been moved to appear at 9 o'clock.

This little detail should make collectors crack. The new color of this Rolex also serves to differentiate this edition from the GMT Master II 2022 .

  • Used watches from major brands
